The Wades "Greatest Hits" cd combines tracks from all of their previous self-released cds and also marks the end of the 4-track recording era of the band.

movement mp3

the third wave of material from The Wades was the "Movement" ep. a liitle fine tuning on the recording process meets a little experimentation in songwriting.

do you stand up? mp3

this release by "The Wades" crossing genres without sounding like a mix tape in a handmade cover sewn shut and graced with a stenciled wadeskull.

read some reviews:

aversionline.com said:
"...even though I feel like all of the recordings are insufficient, I actually quite enjoy all of the songwriting, and with more emphasis on quality production values these two would have many options, as based on the stylistic shifts herein they could either work one incredibly diverse band or form several different projects that each explore their own unique sounds. The darker direction of "Originate" is probably my personal favorite of the bunch, but several of the other compositions hit on some nice atmospheres as well. I'd be really curious to hear what these two could accomplish under optimal studio circumstances… (6/10)"

punknews.org said:
"...i’d be very, very interested to see what this tandem is capable of in a decent recording setting. They’ve got diversity, they’ve got talent, and they’ve got the ability to write simple but effective songs. From only two people, frankly, that’s all you can ask for, but the Wades push that envelope just a tad further."

and finally, Punk Planet said:
"Chris and Ali Wade are at their best when they strip away the noise that buries their politically charged, oft-clever lyrics. On “Poor to Go,” the album’s standout track, the duo is at its most tongue in cheek and, fortunately, is backed by a single guitar, letting the listener hear the couple’s humorous lament about being too broke to attend church. It’s too bad I couldn’t hear more of what they had to say."

you see the trend, friend?

wade (the wades) rise ep out of print

the fruit of mp3

the first duo release by Ali and Chris Wade is more electronic than what would come in the furture from The Wades. most of these recordings were done on a pc, utilizing Fruity Loops and ACID. the goal on this release was not to replicate the sounds of a rock band (as on the later cds) but to just have fun and experiment with some new tools.

a complete discography Ali and Chris Wade (including the Wades, Orlock, hose.got.cable and the like) can be found right here

we'll keep you posted about the next release and post reviews here when they happen.

orlock s/t 7" out of print 1996

orlock impostor/maidenhead 7" out of print 1997

Ali & Chris Wade formed the band Orlock in 1995 as a "project" with Ali on vocals, Chris on drums and Metal Mike on guitar. Orlock officially formed as a live band after the breakups of hose.got.cable and Gingwin/Nudibranch in 1996 with Perry Saunders on bass, David Seaman on drums, Ali on vocals and Chris on guitar.

Orlock released two 7" records (funeral recordings/monstro and fall records) was featured on a Food Not Bombs benefit cd, and toured the US.

well, they did the south, west and northwest, plains, midwest and then broke up in Minnesota and drove straight home on Chris Wades birthday.

hose.got.cable discography
now available
from Cadillac Flambe 2006

1992-1995 Richmond, VA band featuring Chris Wade, John Partin, John Peters and John Skaritza.

from Decibel magazine:
"Richmond has had one of the best unknown punk scenes for the past 15 years. Ask anyone who was there and they'll let you know: Avail worked hard and got famous, Buzzov-en were scary as hell, and hose.got.cable were the guys that your band never, ever wanted to follow.

First, the cliche: hose.got.cable were the best punk band of the '90s you never heard of. Now, the reality: hose might have been the best punk band of the '90s. They howled into their pickups and screamed themselves hoarse. They wounded themselves on their own instruments, with torn jeans, work shirts and chain wallets dripping in sweat, taped-up All Stars soaked through. They were ripped off left and right. They utterly embodied the heaviest of so-called emocore when that subgenre felt like the future, and - here's the stunning part - they did so while writing hardcore blurts that were catchy without moving into pop-punk. Perfect."

groove. crutch/overcast 7"out of print 1991

groove. by the road 7" out of print 1992

the band that Chris Wade brought with him to Richmond, VA that featured the tried and true ensemble of musicians from the bands Device and Rebound. the post punk guitar style (that Chris learned from Gut Rochelle) and the emo sensibilties of this band combined with the freight train rhythm section and scene popularity of Hgual would create hose.got.cable right after this bands demise.
